Join HHC Blacksheep in a memorial ascent of Riva Ridge on the 80th anniversary of the 10th Mountain Division’s successful ascent and capture of this key terrain in the German Gothic Line. Three routes will be available for ascent following similar routes to the 4 that were established in 1945. Route 1 will be a strenuous ascent of 1.9 miles and roughly 1800 feet of elevation gain that averages a 12% grade. Route 2 will be a long 5.9 mile gradual ascent of 2400 feet to the ridgeline that averages a 5% grade. Route 3 is a highly technical ascent of 2200 feet over 1.5 miles that averages a 20% grade. Route 3 will require some climbing experience and climbing equipment to mitigate risk. Ascent of route 3 will be allowed at the discretion of HHC military mountaineers.
